Security of Supply of Mineral Resources Finale Meeting 2019
Thursday 9 May 2019, Royal Society, London
The final meeting of the NERC Security of Supply of Mineral Resources programme will celebrate and share its achievements to researchers and stakeholders at the Royal Society in London on Thursday 9 May 2019. Attendance at the meeting is free, but places are limited so delegates will need to register.
The meeting will showcase in a series of keynote presentations what can be achieved in five years of research and is aimed at all those with an interest in the raw materials (e.g. cobalt, rare earths, tellurium and selenium) for green growth, which are used in low carbon power generation and energy storage. Recognising that increased demand for these raw materials would put a significant strain on the existing sources of supply, NERC and EPSRC launched the Security of Supply of Mineral Resources (SoS-MR). This funded four projects that would enhance knowledge on the occurrence and processing of the minerals required, so that these can be produced in a more sustainable way and reduce the potential for supply issues to constrain progress towards a low carbon economy in the UK and globally.
In addition, poster exhibitions will expand on the technical and scientific research of the four projects. Watch our SoS Minerals programme introductory video to learn more.
A drinks reception will follow the meeting to allow time for networking and to raise a toast to the community of researchers, funders and partners that made Security of Supply of Mineral Resources programme possible.
